Drainage Wells

Dual rotary drilling

Dual rotary drilling is a unique method that uses two rotary drives to advance both the drill bit and steel casing simultaneously. This technology performs exceptionally well in soft formations such as sand, gravel, cobbles, and boulders, reducing the risk of hole collapse, lost circulation, and ground movement.

It is also the preferred method for constructing Class V injection wells. A.C. Schultes operates 8 dual rotary rigs and has constructed more than 8,000 drainage wells in Florida, primarily in the Miami and surrounding areas. Drainage wells play a critical role in managing excess stormwater from streets, parking lots, rooftops, and highways.

Advantages of Dual Rotary Drilling

  • Faster, controlled drilling through unconsolidated formations
  • Reduces or eliminates lost circulation and dredging problems
  • Steel casing seals off the formation during drilling
